On 23 August 2017, our country ratified Annex VI to the Antarctic Treaty Protocol on Environmental Protection, which refers to liability arising from environmental emergencies in the Antarctic Treaty Area. This Annex was adopted at the XXVIII Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting (ACTM), which was held in Stockholm on 2005. In order to enter into force, it must be approved by all the Consultative Parties. This ratification is relevant and marking a milestone in the National Antarctic Program.
